The Homestead

Located in Hot Springs offers skiing only when there is enough natural snow to cover its slopes. Massanutten Resort

Located also in the Shenandoah Valley near Harrisonburg, stays busy year-round with time-share guests, but winter months attract skiers by the busload. More than 15 inches of natural snow, combined with excellent snowmaking equipment, wrap the 14 slopes in a winter wonderland base of 38-60 inches of snow. “We’re having a really good year,” says Kenny Hess, assistant ski area manager. “The snow is better than it has been in recent years because we haven’t had any warm cycles. We’ve had good snowmaking weather since early December,” he adds.

Wintergreen Resort
