2007 Fall Fundraising Event Info.

It's almost time for the annual Blue Ridge BADF fund raising banquet and I am e-mailing to help get the word out and seek out corporate sponsors, donations, and individual ticket sales.  We have 2 families this year that we are helping.

The first is Matthew and Gunner Allanson.  For those of you who do not know their story, Gunner has Alagille Syndrome, meaning the ducts in Gunners liver are too small for bile to go through.  In a fairly new type of surgery, Gunners father Matt, donated a coke bottle size portion of his liver to Gunner.  The transfer was a success but the family has had 5 surgeries since March.  Although they have health insurance, it has not taken care of all the bills.  This has left them with a huge financial burden.  Matt is back to work but his wife Carrie has had to quit her job to stay home and take care of Gunner.

Our second family is the Heishman Family.  Randy Heishman recently died in a 4 wheeler accident and left behind his wife and 2 children.  Randy was 41 and in the prime of his life.  His wife does work but Randy was the primary bread winner of the family and this leaves them with a big financial burden.  We are actually collecting for the children's trust fund to help secure their future.  Randy was a die hard hunter and it only seems fitting that our organization help the children have some light at the end of the tunnel.  I know it won't replace Randy but at least it can help relieve some of the financial anxieties.

I have attached forms for sponsorships levels and for regular tickets.  For every 5 sponsors we get, we are giving away a gun or bow.  We are also having an early bird drawing for all sponsors who have paid by August 15th.  The early bird drawing will be for a Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter.  The banquet will also have a live auction, a silent auction, tip jars, and raffles.  There will be a ladies raffle also.

The banquet is Friday September 14th at Lee Jackson's.  The doors open at 6 pm.  Please come out and support the Blue Ridge BADF.  Last year was our 1st banquet and we were the 4th highest netting banquet in the United States.  We are shooting for #1 this year.  The more support we get, the more we can help local families and local organizations.
