Therapeutic Body Massage

Choose a soothing swedish style massage designed to help stimulate circulation and relax muscles, or a therapeutic Massage designed to address sports related conditions using more deep tissue massage and
Myofacial Release. Active Isolated Stretching is another technique used to stretch those extra tight and tense muscles. Kara will customize your massage according to your preference.

The History of Massage

Massage therapy is a science that can be traced hundreds of years. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, prescribed massage. Julius Caesar used massage for a bad case of neuralgia. Every Mother knows the comfort a child gets from the soothing touch of a caring hand on a scraped knee. Massage is much more than the luxury of feeling nurtured. The benefits of can be experienced on all levels, as physical mental, and emotional well-being.

The Benefits of Massage

Often times people are stressed from everyday life in our culture. Stress-related disorders make up between 80-and-90 percent of the ailments that bring people to family-practice physicians. Massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, and increases endorphins (enhancing medical treatment). It also stimulates weak, inactive muscles which help compensate for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. It also quicken recovery from exercise or injury.

Here are just some of the benefits of Massage:

* deep relaxation, reducing stress
* relief from muscle tension, ease of movement
* healthier skin
* faster wound healing
* improved circulation
* more efficient immune system function
* clearer thinking
* increased awareness of Body - Mind connection

Some of the best therapists offer a range of massage techniques, including the Swedish massage system of long strokes and kneading on the more superficial layers of human muscle. There's also the deep tissue approach, which relies upon finger pressure on the concentrated areas of deep layers of muscle tissue.
